Amyet Bicicleta Electrica: A Powerful Fat Tire Ebike At An Excellent Price

Almost every electric bike comes from China. They may have different stickers with different names on them, but they all come from factories in Wuxi, Tianjin, and other locations across Jiangsu province.

In Mexico, you find only a few electric bike models. My favorite is the Amyet-EB26 sold on Mercado Libre. These ebikes come with 4-inch fat tires, 7 derailleur speeds, a 15 ah battery, throttle, pedal assist, mechanical disk brakes, a 1000 watt motor, front/rear lights, and suspension.

I don’t own this bike, but I own the same chinese model with a different sticker saying Keteles K800. Here is my review of the bike and how you can purchase it.

Why I Love This Ebike

There is so much I love about this ebike. It’s truly my best friend and has saved me a lot of money on gasoline.

Fat Tires Are Awesome

The fat tires make this one of the most comfortable riding bikes I have been on. The rough roads of La Paz don’t bother me at all, and I have not gotten a flat tire in 700+ km of riding (knocking on wood now, darn I probably jinxed myself!).

The Amyet ebike is very tall because of the fat tires. I am 194 cm (6’4″) and I feel great in the saddle, towering above the rest of the world like a king riding through the sky.

Also, I”ve been able to explore some excellent back country roads without fear of getting stuck in sand. The fat tires will take you on any Baja adventure you can dream of.

Motorcycle-like 1000 Watt Motor

It’s a super powerful motor, and I feel more like I am riding a motorcycle than a bicycle. It makes getting around the city super fast, easy, and convenient.

I love never searching for a parking spot or waiting in line at a gas station to fork over 1000 pesos to fill up. Plus, with my panniers or a bike trailer, I can carry construction materials or cool rocks home from the beach without a problem.

I have not done this yet, but I need to install a passenger seat on my rear rack. This will allow even more use for this beastly motor because I could take my girlfriend to the beach!

A Beautiful Ebike

My bike is a beautiful blue color with blue wheel rims. It’s a head turner with it’s size and stunning colors.

Looks like the Amyet only comes with black wheel rims, which is kind of sad. But, you will still impress people with the size and speed as you whiz past.

Overall, it looks like a normal bicycle with pleasing geometry. Only the detachable battery lets you know it is actually more of a motorcycle.

Things You May Not Like About The Amyet EB26

Being a big beefy ebike, it is heavy as heck! It took me a week or so to get used to the weight and now I am stronger and more comfortable riding. But if you need to carry your ebike up stairs or put it in a car, it might be too much of a burden.

Also, this motor might be too powerful for your needs. It eats a lot of battery, it adds weight, and it can feel jerky at first from torquey acceleration. In fact, I turned off the pedal assist on my ebike becuase it was off-putting to be pedaling and then feel the strong acceleration when the assist kicked in.

Finally, this ebike might be too big for smaller folks. It says it is ok for people down to 162 cm, but I have had 3 friends who didn’t seem so short tell me the ebike is too big for them.
